Good news! Philippine senators work hard to extend the validity of passport from 5 years to 10 years by the end of the year.

Passport holders usually complain about the short validity of the current passport, and that's one of the possibilities that senators will try to accomodate the request of most Filipinos especially Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
