Senator Risa Hontiveros Defended Maute Terror Group Against Martial Law

President Duterte's critic and Liberal Party and Senate opposition member Senator Risa Hontiveros believes that President Rodrigo should have not declared Martial Law to address the crisis in Marawi City.

In an interview on the program Get it Straight with Daniel Razon, Hontiveros said that Maute terror group did not commit rebellion since they were a small part of the group and even the residents of Marawi City didn't like them.

The lady senator said, "what Maute Group are doing is not rebellion. I believe they are only doing what they think is right, the people has a belief, a conviction that pushed them to move forward. Maaring pagod na sila sa mga nangyayari sa lipunan at least they have the motivation. We should be inspired of what they are doing. They are the epitome of courage and resilience."

In a blog post of Mr. Alon Calinao Dy, he said, "killing innocent people is a criminal act, and I believe Maute Terror Group have killed several children and women because they want to prove their allegiance to ISIS. It's just right that President Duterte made a strong
decision to prevent further terrorist attacks."

Some netizens suspected that Liberal Party had something to do with the ongoing rebellion in Marawi City. According to some reposts, opposition senators went to Marawi City and talked to some groups of people, and then after a few weeks, the rebellion started.

Concerned citizens also insisted to conduct a thorough investigation regarding the alleged involvement of some senators who ignited the     siege in the area. It seems Hontiveros doesn't care the lives of innocent children and women who have been murdered by this Maute terror group including the Abu Sayyaf group.
