Worldwide Survey: Who Would You Follow Order Between President Rodrigo Duterte and CBCP President Archbishop Socrates Villegas?

By Alon Calinao Dy: Many times the government and Church have differences between each other, and some Catholics and other religions thought that Catholic leaders should not interfere to the government's plan on how to resolve country's problems of illegal drugs and criminalities.

Many times faithful ones follow the teachings of Catholic Church because if they don't follow they have this common notion that their sins will not be forgiven and saved by God. This is the way most Catholics interpret between good and evil.

In a blog post of Mr. Alon Calinao Dy, he said "I really love God. Though I admit I've committed sins like everyone else, I follow His words and do what I think God wanted for His children. 'Thou shall not Kill' does not mean for me that people should abolish the restoration of death penalty in the Philippines."

Still, lots of people think today that priests, nuns, pastors, and imams are the messengers of God but if people are going to be observants of all the things that are happening around us, these religious leaders have their own agenda. Their public opinion can have a big impact to their listeners. But listeners should listen well and do not just be followers.

Like President Rodrigo Duterte, he is just a man and sometimes he committed mistakes too. Not all the opinions and decisions of the president are right, but I think his battle is the fight of most Filipinos who believe for what is right in the country.

Filipinos have been fed by twisted lies by a lot of Philippine media, movies, televisions, and TV shows so that people become 'just followers' and not the ones we commonly expect as 'thinking followers.' But when president became a father of the country and a true inspiration for most Filipinos, I've seen two things-- real change and hope for everyone.

Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) President Socrates Villegas should understand the fact that the reason why President Rodrigo Duterte won in the past election as a president of the Philippines because it is the will of God. If you do not respect him as a good leader, at least respect him as a person. Because of your opposite views and being a constant critic to the government, I think many Filipinos no longer respect you as one of the Catholic leaders. They only respect you because you are a priest, but your public opinion says everything who you really are.

With all due respect, Archbishop Villegas, tell me, are you really serving God and the common good of the people or just your own agenda as an Aquino ally? what did you do when women were raped by these cruel criminals? What did you do when innocent babies were aborteď because of unwanted pregnancies because you do not want people to use condoms? Did you realize how many wives and children had lost their husbands and fathers fighting against criminals? What?!!! You just pray for them and let things happen all over again.

I am not blaming you all these unexpected events and why many innocent people get killed. I just want to consider the people's voice that they need to bring back the death penalty for heinous crimes because what's happening around us now is not a big JOKE anymore. Remember, not all people who oppose the restoration of the capital punishment are good people, and many of them are just using the Church for their political ambitions in the future.

Many of these yellow minions and oligarchs are great pretenders and oppotunistics to some circumstances. They tried to paint an image that President Duterte is a bad president internationally. They used every chance to oust a duly elected president and told the international communities that he is a "dictator, womanizer, killer, hitler, and so many bad names" when in fact he is fighting for the poor and for the country to eliminate illegal drugs, corruption and criminalities in the country.

I truly admire the bravery of our President Duterte. More than 700,000 drug addicts surrendered because the government has a political will to do what is right for the people even though it is not morally right from the Catholic Church's standpoints. I guess, for the Catholic Church leaders in the Philippines, their interpretation of the value of life is totally different from the victims' perspectives who experienced most shocking crimes within their family members.

I used to admire CBCP President Archbishop Socrates Villegas years ago when I thought he was a humble and not an activist priest. I started to change my impression about him when he seemed to ignore the public cry for a real change and defended the previous  "yellow" administration especially those criminals who continue to victimize innocent women and children because illegal drug use. Until now, I could not believe why it was hard for the Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop to forgive the late president Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. I thought, because he is a priest, he could easily forgive the former president Marcos.

Now my question for Filipinos as this is just a simple survey to know the public opinions, who would you follow order between President Rodrigo Duterte and CBCP President Socrates Villegas?

A. Friends of President Rodrigo Duterte (Like and Share this page)

B. Friends of CBCP President Archbishop Socrates Villegas (Comment why support the Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop)
